SCARCE IRAQ LEVIES (Assyrian Levies) OFFICER’S Silver Pair Collar / Epaulette Badges.
SCARCE IRAQ LEVIES (Assyrian Levies) OFFICER’S Silver Pair Collar / Epaulette Badges.
Super example of these locally made badges for British Officers. This pair of badges (and the hat badge I have listed) were obtained from 3511976 Flying Officer H.G. Kirby R.A.F. who served in Iraq from September 1953 to September 1955. They are described as collar badges in many references, but I have seen images of them worn below the rank tapes on RAF Officer slip-on epaulettes. They are unmarked silver and fitted with steel fastening pins.
There is plenty to read online about this unit, and also many images of insignia. These Officer badges are very hard to obtain.
A lovely and scarce example made of unmarked silver.
