WW1 NEW ZEALAND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO IMPERIAL CAMEL CORPS
Killed in Action Memorial Plaque to 17466 Trooper Carroll Henry Thomas Sandford, 4th Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps (NZ), N.Z.E.F.
Carroll was Killed in Action (Died of his Wounds) on 28 November, 1917 during the Third Battle of Gaza, aged 21.
He received a Gunshot Wound to the left thigh requiring amputation and a Gunshot Wound to his left arm which was fractured on the 8th November, 1917.
He served in the Middle East (Sinai/Palestine) with the N.Z.E.F. attached to the Imperial Camel Corps (NZ). He is buried at the Cairo Memorial War Cemetery, Eqypt.
