A very good example of this scarce Victorian period hat badge. Reference is Kipling & King 648. This badge is an oddity. The scroll is cast and gilt finished. The Stafford know is larger than usual (making this badge around 6mm higher than usual. The crown once had a screw fitting on it. This has been gilded to match the base scroll. All done a very long time ago, and I am certain for a legitimate purpose. Most likely an Officer badge judging by the finishes, maybe made whilst Regiment was serving overseas.
